The client

Quadrant Plumbing Solutions is a plumbing and heating contractor in Hampshire, founded by Joe Charman in 2021. Joe trained at Eastleigh College and worked at a Winchester heating firm before setting up on his own, and the team has since grown to include his first apprentice, Sam. The company is Gas Safe registered, a Vaillant Approved Installer and G3 certified, covering boiler installations, system design, underfloor heating and heat pumps across Winchester and the wider county.

The brief

Joe wanted a website that matched the quality of the work, built trust with prospective customers, and helped him compete in local search. The previous presence was thin - a single-page-style site on a hyphenated domain that gave Google very little to index or rank. The goal was a premium site that made getting in touch easy, backed by a local SEO plan to get Quadrant showing up in searches and the map pack across Hampshire.

What I built

A custom site coded from scratch in HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript - no theme, no page builder, no CMS. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages with GitHub version control, which keeps it fast and means no ongoing hosting or licence fees. The whole thing is built mobile-first, since a phone at the side of the road is where most people search for a plumber.

Ten service pages

A dedicated page for each core service, from boiler installations to heat pumps, each with a FAQ accordion aimed at the "how much" and "how long" questions people type into Google.

Twelve area pages

One page per town - Winchester, Eastleigh, Romsey and nine more - each targeting "plumber in [town]", with a local map and its own structured data so Google reads it as genuinely local.

Built for search

Unique titles and descriptions, schema and FAQ structured data, canonical tags, breadcrumbs and a submitted sitemap - the technical groundwork on every page from day one.

Alongside those sit a pricing page with call-out rates and a clear quoting process, a filterable project gallery, an about page with team bios, and a contact form wired to send automated notifications straight to Joe so no enquiry gets missed.

The brief was a ten-page site. Doing it properly meant thirty-five.

Getting found in local search

A fast site is only half the job - people still have to find it. So the build was paired with hands-on local SEO: the Google Business Profile was fully set up and optimised with categories, services, service areas and photos; a citation guide got the business listed consistently across UK directories; a backlink article was published with natural links back to the site; and every key page was submitted for indexing through Search Console, with keyword tracking set up to monitor target terms.

The results

The site launched within two weeks of the initial brief. Within the first month Google had discovered and begun indexing every page, and Joe reported enquiries coming through the contact form inside the first week of going live. The Google Business Profile grew from thirteen to more than fifteen five-star reviews, with responses kept active throughout.

The build scores near-perfect across the board on Google PageSpeed Insights - the same tool anyone can run against the live site:

Just as importantly, the site is fully owned by the client - no platform fees, no CMS licence, no dependency on a third-party builder - with ongoing SEO handled on a monthly retainer covering profile posts, reviews, citations and ranking monitoring.

If you run a trades business and your site is not pulling its weight, this is the kind of build I do - see more recent work, or read why a site does not rank.
